So I can remember. So I will know how to deal with clients. So I will know the value of my work. So I will know how to go about my business.
Because of how our economy has been faring lately, I know a lot of people who got laid off from their jobs, who can't find any job at all, or who have given up trying. It's really painful to find yourself out of a job all of a sudden, especially if there are a lot of people who rely on you, or if you have a lot of bills to pay. Sometimes it just feels so hopeless, you know?
One of my friends actually quit from his job. I was surprised at this at first, but when he explained to me his motives I understood completely. He's a graphic designer, now venturing out to designing websites, and he tells me that he could earn a lot of money if he just went freelance and worked from home. I was skeptic at this at first, because, well, what about job security? Health insurance? And many more. He told me that since the landscape is changing these days due to the economy and more technology coming in, it is now really possible to be connected with just anyone from the comforts of your own home. So why would he waste time finding jobs that would lay him off anyway, when he could take charge of his own time and be his own boss? There are lots of discussion these days about freelancing. I'm not into the whole thing (yet) myself, but I wanted to understand my friend so I did some reading of my own. Anyway I found this chart below, and wow --- not bad. Makes me feel like working from home now, too. Haha. Well maybe in the future. | AboutDesign should never say, “Look at me.” It should always say, “Look at this.” ArchivesOctober 2011 topicsAll |
